Brides and grooms bustled about the Pegasus Ballroom at the Magnolia Hotel last Thursday as ten of DFW's top cakeries & bakeries showed off their latest wedding cake creations at the inaugural Platinum Wedding Cake Competion hosted by the Magnolia Hotel, Robbins Brothers and the Texas Wedding Guide. After a lively introduction by wedding guru Steve Kimball, attendees walked the room, checking out the gorgeous, grand and delightfully glamorous cakes from Le Gateau Cakery, Tart Bakery, Cake Carousel, Delicious Cakes, The Cakery, Elegant Cakery, Opulent Cakes, Sweet Memories, J Dorian, and The Cake Guys. Cakes were judged on two different platforms, Best in Show for overall design and Best Tasting. The Cake Guys, out of Duncaville, took home the grand prize in both categories - stunning our guests with a delicious raspberry-filled, white, multi-layer bedazzeled cake - that rotated nonetheless - and stole the show.
