The most unforgettable weddings are, without question, always the most personalized. So, it doesn’t surprise me that this year’s biggest wedding trend is wedding branding.
What’s that, you ask? Its way more than just an invitation…it’s the story of your style and it shows your personality and love for each other!
From the save the dates and rehearsal dinner invitations to the wedding website, programs, thank you notes and everything in between.

Let’s get the real deal from wedding branding expert, Nikki Nuckols from Doodle Dog Creative…
Q. What exactly IS wedding branding and what does it mean for a bride & groom?
A. Wedding branding is the art of telling a couple’s love story through paper, details and design. It begins with an inspirational design board and has endless possibilities from themed invitations, favors, signs, table numbers, escort cards and more. The detail that is poured into each and every piece is what separates a branded wedding from the rest, and keep guests reminiscing for years to come.
Q. How is a concept or “brand” born during a meeting with your bride & groom?
A. In most cases a brand already exists, it’s just a matter of helping the future Mr. and Mrs. figure out what it is.
All couples have a story. They all have hobbies, inside jokes, and secret handshakes (ok, not all couples have this). Our point is that every couple has something unique about them. They all have something that is “brand – worthy,” and it’s our job to find out what that is. Once we have come up with a brand identity we design each piece with the same style, grace and personality to represent a couples’ originality and tie the entire event together.
We start each brand with a design board that the couple is welcome to use throughout their planning process, to show other venues and help inspire ideas that will tie the entire event together. It shows the color scheme, the theme and a few images of the items that are included in their brand.

Its true… absence makes the heart grow fonder, especially for Sarah and Matt. It was their long distance relationship and road trips between Dallas and Austin that led them to the alter and inspired Doodle Dog Creative to create this clever concept to brand their wedding. {Doodle Dog Creative Design Board featured on Good Morning Texas}

Q. What are different ideas and concepts brides and grooms can consider when coming up with their signature brand?
A. It varies from couple to couple, we’ve designed concepts based on how a couple met, where they grew up, what they do for a living or even a play on the path the couple had to travel to see each other throughout their relationship (as shown in the Good Morning Texas segment). There are absolutely no limitations in wedding branding, so we invite couples to tell us as much about themselves and their relationship as possible so that we can design and develop their signature brand.
Q. As the designer, what elements of the wedding do you include in the signature brand?
A. As we said, the possibilities are endless, but the most beautiful wedding brands stretch from save the dates to the thank you cards and everything in between. Guests will be in awe of the personality and effort that is included in every invitation, favor and detail.
Q. Why is it important (fun, exciting, different) to create a brand for your wedding?
A. Almost every couple we meet is looking for a way to make their wedding personal. Gone are the days of cookie cutter weddings with mass produced monogrammed napkins and rhinestone covered guest books. Planning should be fun, and wedding branding is the first step in the right direction. When we meet for the first time you’ll get to tell us all about you, bring pictures of the times you’ve shared together, menus from your favorite restaurants, notes you’ve written to each other, or anything else that is reflective of your relationship. The most exciting part of the wedding branding process is seeing your story come to life. In many cases couple’s are so excited to have a brand identity that they will use elements of it for years to come...from future Christmas cards, to housewarming parties and more.
Remember...your wedding doesn’t have to be big budget to be memorable. Branding your wedding will help create the perfect experience for your guests and have them talking long after the last glass of champagne is poured.
