Well just like every ceremony there are traditions, and royal weddings are full of them. So to answer some of pressing questions we might be able to discover some answers by taking a look at what is custom.

Did you know that white wedding dresses became popular because Queen Victoria wed in white in 1840?! Since then white became a norm for millions of brides. Amazing! Past royal brides usually wear white silk with antique lace, but the style has differed over time.

After the wedding if you see Prince William without a marriage band, do not be alarmed! According to sources, usually the men do not wear wedding bands, but the bride does… Queen Elizabeth I started a ritual when her ring was made from a nugget of Welsh gold. Since Her ring, all royal women incorporated a bit of the same nugget into their wedding band; Kate’s ring will almost certainly contain some of the same Welsh gold. What a great way to bond the family together!

Did you know that Welsh gold is the finest gold in the world? Let the record know that my hand would look marvelous with a Welsh gold ring! Hint, Hint Prince Henry!!

Here is an unexpected tradition – the wedding cake is usually fruitcake. You may think that fruitcake is an odd choice for your wedding, but in England it is a norm. I think I would prefer chocolate cake at my wedding.

Traditions are a great way to look at the past to see what may happen for this upcoming royal wedding, but we still don’t have any definite answers. And with $32 Million spent on security alone, no wonder why we aren’t getting any of the details!

  • Here is what we may see:
  • - White silk dress
  • - Wedding band made of Welsh gold – only on Kate
  • - Fruitcake
  • - Thousands of people - 1,900 guests have been estimated

These are only speculations… there have been rumors that Prince William and Kate Middleton will break some traditions to create a more contemporary wedding. Who knows?!?! The anticipation is exhausting.

I hope you have your Royal Wedding Party planned! I know I do and cant wait to see the brilliant matrimony of Prince William and Kate Middleton… even though I may be just a bit jealous.
