Lindsey Thorne Photography Concept Shoot: Amanda + Barrett

Worried about your fiancé feeling awkward or dragging his feet during your engagement photo session? Perhaps you’re tempted to skip it altogether than to “waste” your time and money on pictures where your fiancé looks spaced out. In comes Lindsey Thorne of Lindsey Thorne Photography. Based in Austin, Texas, Thorne quickly takes the reigns and transforms what could be a flop into a success. How does she do it? Concept shoots. She makes time to get to know you and your fiancé and discuss what makes you both tick and how to showcase those parts of your personality on camera.

Thorne turns a photo shoot into a fun-filled date night of things you love doing as a couple. “I want my photo shoots to be more of a story showcasing aspects of the couple’s love story,” she said. “With these concept shoots I wanted to offer something more dynamic and enjoyable, as well as taking some pressure off the groom.”

In the engagement photo concept shoot, she allows for three locations and three wardrobe changes (give and take) from casual to dressy and everything in between. Thorne never leaves you guessing and enjoys the aspect of giving her couples solid direction, so she can give them the most flattering, memorable and best quality photographs. To help kick start the couple’s vision, she’ll create inspiration boards on Pinterest for the couple to make comments on or add photos to.

In this concept shoot, Thorne goes on several dates in one day with this charming Austinite couple, and relates in her own words what the day entailed:

One of Amanda and Barrett’s favorite things to do together is take picnics to Zilker Park and relax in the beautiful months of Texas spring and fall. For this picnic they picked up fresh sunflowers from Central Market, along with snacks and champagne. Then we headed to Sno-Beach, an awesome snow cone trailer by Barton Springs that they frequent several times a week during the summer. Our last stop was to Butler Park by the Liz Carpenter Fountain, where Barrett proposed to Amanda with the view of downtown Austin in the background.

Photos by Lindsey Thorne Photography. Hair and makeup was done by Sirens Salon www.sirens-salon.com, and Amanda's white picnic dress was designed and created by one of her good friends based on a dress she saw on Pinterest (but couldn't find anywhere in stores). Their wedding will be at Laguna Gloria this October.
