If you’ve always dreamt of a beautiful beach wedding, but you live in the Lone Star State and can’t exactly fly to the shores of Italy, cheer up! You have an absolutely breezy destination option in the “Venice of America”: the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel. Located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, on the warm, sandy beaches of Florida, this landmark destination is only a plane hop away from Texas.

This iconic hotel was built in the 1950’s to appear as an ocean liner. Unique entertainment such as the Mermaid Show, could be viewed from The Wreck Bar. Today, this revitalized hotel will keep you and your guests in awe, not only with its contemporary décor and state-of-the-art technology, but also with the guest rooms’ panoramic views of the scenic Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, the hotel has photographs of its famous celebrity guests, such as Marilyn Monroe and Joe Dimaggio, on display in the lobby.

We're excited to announce that on Sunday, June 24, from 6 to 11 p.m., JWI is hosting the Red Lips Ball – its 18th Annual June Social. Held at the W Hotel in downtown Dallas, this wedding association gala will be a time for members, as well as nonmembers, of the wedding industry to come together to network and celebrate!
This fabulous affair will feature a four-course meal, open bar, the Center Stage Band, a Celebrations Events & Entertainment DJ, a luxury live auction with roughly $15,000 worth of items, a green-screen photographer, Magician David Hira and a “red lipstick reader” – think fortune teller – who will “read” your lip prints off a piece of paper. This is also a great opportunity to meet Miss Bliss' guest blogger, Donnie Brown of Donnie Brown Weddings & Events, as he will make an appearance, since he is the DFW chapter president of JWI.

As your wedding day is one of the biggest events of your life, why not mark all the monumental milestones along the way for you to remember fondly and for your guests to "ooh" and "ahh" at? I love how they each got creative with their timelines. It is also fun and adorable to put on your "save the date." Where would you put your timeline?

Never been a Maid of Honor (or “MOH” as most call it)? Or perhaps you have been one before, but still aren’t quite sure what it’s about.
Cue Miss Bliss.
I promise, bride-to-be, that this is just as beneficial to you. Pass it along to your MOH and keep it tucked away for when/if you’re called upon to be the Matron of Honor. Yes, they have the same responsibility as the Maid of Honor
Some of these traditional responsibilities are subject to change, depending on the bride’s preferences.
Maid of Honor, surely you know that the bride has chosen you, most likely, because she considers you her closest friend and confidant and that she knows you will be at her side every step of the way. Remember, “With great power comes great responsibility,” as Voltaire said.
So, don't abuse the power. Sometimes, the bridesmaids won’t live in the same city or state. This is where proper email etiquette and phone calls come in. Make sure you’re very diplomatic, encouraging and positive in communicating with the bridal party. Many catfights can get started by the simplest of misunderstandings.
Reassure the bride often that you are there for her in any way possible, whether it’s emotionally or physically present to run errands, etc. Be as helpful as you comfortably can. Also, you must remember that in most cases, the bride is completely new at this.
