Top Three Ways to Relax and Breathe on Your Wedding Morning

Photo by Erica Rose Photography on Heart Love Weddings via Lover.ly

Have you ever been to an event or hosted an event where the hostess or you were stressed out and running about the entire evening, so that you forgot to relax and have fun?

You don't want that to happen on your wedding day. Trust us. Hanging onto the perspective that no matter what happens, what matters most is that you will be married to the love of your life at the end of the day. Don't forget to enjoy each moment, because it'll soon be over.

Huff Post Lifestyles had a wonderful, insightful little article by Kellee Khalil, founder and CEO of Lover.ly, on the top three ways to relax and breathe while you get ready for what is sure to be one of the most memorable days you will spend with your new husband.

In between pulling the final details together and walking down the aisle lies the time you spend getting ready for your wedding. It's a time that is sometimes forgotten but is no less important, and the worst way to spend a morning prior to your event is focusing on stress (tip from TWG: be sure to hydrate - shy away from alcohol - and get plenty of sleep the night before - you'll have time for drinks and sleepless nights on your honeymoon).

1. Allow Plenty of Time: Regardless of whether a wedding coordinator is in your budget or not, have a timeline in mind (and on paper!) for the morning of your wedding. To start, know what time you need to realistically wake up. It's important that you know when your makeup artist and hairstylist are arriving. If you are planning to do your own hair and makeup (tip from TWG: make sure your MOH or bridesmaid is packing some oil blotters and extra powder and lipstick for you to freshen up with throughout the day or evening), practice creating your look beforehand so you know precisely how much time to allow. This may seem like a no brainer, but it's important to inform your wedding party of this agenda too. Be sure to build in more time than you need, and always, always allow time for pictures! (tip from TWG: photos while you're getting ready are always fun).

2. Create Ambiance: Whether you're spending your morning alone with your mom or with a group of your sorority sisters, create an easy, fun ambiance in which to get ready. Have one of your bridesmaids arrive prepared with a playlist filled with your favorite songs to listen to throughout the morning. Music has a way of keeping you calm, occupied, and having fun with your girlfriends. Second, make time to eat together whether you're munching throughout the day on quick finger foods or sitting down for a more formal breakfast complete with mimosas. Lastly, what is a morning spent getting ready without clothes to relax in? Robes are a great option because they are feminine, comfortable, and will not mess up your hair (a serious win).

Our List of a Few Must-Haves at Your Wedding

Today, we decided to pool together a short list of what we thought were the must-have things you should have at your wedding. Here they are!

A comfy, love seat sofa to make things more cozy and intimate for the newlyweds.

Oh, and don't forget the "cool" kids table. Having a kid-sized table off to the side, laden with Crayons, games and other activities keeps the little ones entertained and less underfoot. Plan to pay one or two people to "oversee" the table. Or you can seat the parents near enough for them to keep an eye on them.

Glow sticks are always fun, for kids and adults alike, and always bring back a myriad of memories. The signage by these glow sticks in Mason jars is adorable.

For all those leftovers at the dessert bar you don't want to throw away or take home. Great little additional wedding favor for your guests. But, be sure your master of ceremonies makes your guests aware of that opportunity to take home goodies.

A Few Tips on Selecting the Right Gown for Your Wedding

We are delighted to once again present Texas-based wedding planner and superstar, Donnie Brown, Donnie Brown Weddings and Events, in another of his monthly contributing columns. You may know him from the popular TV show, “Whose Wedding is it Anyway?”

Well-known for his direct and vivacious personality, he is sure to keep us in stitches with his humorous opinions and sometimes, unbelievable tales from his experiences as a planner over the years. In addition, he will keep readers up-to-date on the latest bridal trends and “must haves.”

Here, in his next column, Donnie gives brides hard and fast rules to help them eliminate from the plethora of colors and cuts of gowns.

Wedding gown necklines are broken down into several categories: off the shoulder, spaghetti strap, halter, scoop, strapless, sweetheart, jewel (which has a rounded appearance) and the less-frequent V-neck. Waist styles are Basque, dropped waist, empire waist, princess cut and natural. For bodice styles you will find corset, empire, halter, midriff, asymmetrical, princess-line, surplice and tank. Now with all those options, here are a few guidelines on how to best select your gown’s style and shade for your big day!

Mint = The Top Wedding Color of Spring 2013

Fresh, light and pleasing to the eyes, mint is the color of spring! We've already seen brides pairing it with ivory, soft pinks, yellows and gold tones. There are so many styles, lengths and cuts for bridesmaid dresses.

You can embellish your own white gown with mint accent pieces like this bracelet.

Here's an example of a bride who did her tablescape colors with soft pink and mint. We think it gives off a very ethereal and romantic ambiance.

Don't forget that accent pieces include making a big statement with your fabulous shoes. Check out the gold heels on this pair. Or if you love the color that much and are wanting to go really bold, don mint green yourself. This Vera Wang mint-colored affair is stunning.

This past fall, the Texas Wedding Guide team got the incredible opportunity to do a fashion shoot right outside of Austin, with the breath-taking views found at Rancho Mirando, in Fischer, Texas. We are so excited to show off this fashion shoot, with gowns carpeting the ground like they're a part of nature, that we decided to give you a sneak peek of our fashion feature.

Yes, this is a mint green gown; your eyes do not deceive you. It is simply stunning and a demurely daring deviation from the traditional white/cream gown. Mint isn't just the hot color for men's ties or bridesmaids' dresses this season.
